-GE9X clear for Takeoff-
GE9X clear for takeoff by the FAA!
The GE9X engine for the Boeing 777X has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the the most powerful and largest commercial aircraft jet engine. The high-bypass turbofan has reached 134,300 lbf of thrust (597 kN) during ground testing. To put this in perspective that's "not too far off the 188,000 pounds of thrust commanded by the Soyuz rocket that helped Yuri Gagarin to become the first human to orbit the Earth" and 5 times the power generated by an F16 Fighting Falcon.

It is equipped with a 3,4036 meter fan, 16 sinuous carbon fiber composite blades at the back end of an 11 stage HP compressor and more than 300 3D-printed parts, including a nozzle designed to further reduce fuel use up to 20% over the GE90. The engine also reached an overall pressure ratio of 60:1 and a bypass ratio of 9.9:1. It is also the quitest engine ever produced by GE in its category. As wide as the whole body of a 737, it is nevertheless the most fuel-efficient engine in its class ( class includes rival Rolls-Royce Trent XWB). Let's just hope that this time everything goes right for Boeing with the 777x, expected to commence in 2022.
